MATH BOARDS!!!!!

Welcome back to Zoe's blog. Today for maths I am doing math boards. I don't think you know that much about them and how we do it.

So we have to go on this doc to see what  Questions we can do for our math boards. There iare easy ones, harder ones and changeling ones. Its always good to challenging because you just keep trying and it gives your brain a workout. Here is the Questions for today.

This week we have been doing races. There were 3.

1. Boats (my personally favorite)

2. Paper airplanes ( i didn't do them i was away)

3. Cars




The first thing I did was cars 

we had to make a Normal car drive bye itself without touching it we went in groups. My group was called Girl Power. we made the car drive bye attaching a balloon and a straw to the car then someone in my team would blow it and it across the finish line. We came last place but that's ok.



Then i did the boats.

we had to make a boat and then make sure it would float in water and not sink when we put marbles in it and who ever got the most marbles won. Guess what we won! we were called the champions and we are the champions too. we got 148 marbles in the boat before it sunk!

RENEWABLE ENERGY!!!

This term in reading I have been reading about this article called Renewable Energy. We read about it because for our  PBL we are looking at how we can help our environment. 

Here are the 5 energy sources that are good for the environment. I summarised the article to help understand what I was reading

1. Solar - Light energy form the sun can be used to heat water and make electricity. It is collected by solar panels. 

2. Hydroelectric energy -  Hydroelectric energy uses the power of moving water. Dams are built to direct river water so that it drives electricity making machinery.

3. Geothermal - Rocks and water deep underground are hot geothermal. This heat can be used to create electricity.

4. Wind - Wind power is collected using wind turbines. The wind turns their blades setting off machinery that changes the energy into electricity.

5. Biomass - Plants can be used as fuels corps leftover food wood and waste can be burned to make energy.

In the Tumu hub we have Been doing Math Mats. Now if you don't know what math mats are then I
will tell right now!!!. So there are 4 squares in the math mats and they are write a story solve it another way solve it numerically and give a visual solution.

We also had to choose a question that would challenge us. Then try figure it out.  We have to do 2 every week. We have to draw picture on Give a visual solution. Here is a picture of of my Math mats. Have you ever made a math Mat before?

Winter sports and Netball courts

Its a another year of winter sports.

I am doing netball this year for winter sports I am in the c team this year for netball
I have an amazing team that plays netball with me. I love playing defence you have to defend the other person and make sure that they don't get the ball. I also really like attack you try get all the goals in and you also defend your other player. Today is my first game of winter sports yay i can't wait to do it.
We go on a bus and go to hagley park and vs other schools. The sport that other people play and the choices that we have are soccer tackle rugby hokey and my personally favorite NETBALL!!!

Ispiring People

In the Tumu hub we have been learning about the environment. we have been lucky enough to have guest speakers come in and talk about what they do to help the environment. Glenn has helped bye
Making some plastic cups that you can use more often they use them at the horn castle arena and the Hagley Ovel and others...They talked how they gave the cups and its like renting it for a day you give a
1 dollar coin for the cup and then when you are finished with it return it back and get your one dollar back..  It menses a bit weird to give the dollar and give it back butt they do that just in case they do not give it back. He also talked about how what cups are made of and now i know that cups are made of
of oil. Also he said that if you put it in the dumb it would not break after about 500 years.
THAT IS CRAZY!!!

2nd May, Cross Country Day!

Its that time again... You guessed It Cross Country Day.


Yesterday we Did  Cross Country... So We Did a 15 Minute Calm walk to Walter Park. Once we got there We sat down on the Tarps and Read books Play and do lots of other stuff.
I watched some of the Races Because My race was last literally last so I had to play and watch other people do there races. Finally it was my turn to do my Race. After the race had finished  had a pink face it was very tricky but In the end I came 13th place...............   What place did you come in cross country????
